Day of the Brood...

The day began normally, but the signs were there...
Oh, how we were decieved... At first, nobody really noticed what was going on. Little things here and there...
.45 caliber cicada? Who knew?

Scientists were called in to study the situation.
...they couldn't stop it.

But by then, it was too late. God help us.
SWARM!!!

It was only then that it became obvious that this time, Brood XIII was different. They meant business... and they were hungry.
This is an ex-cow.

And they were MEAN.
Fear them all.

As night fell, people panicked and fled the area. The cicadas took advantage and ran rampant through the land.
Nobody knows how they managed this... or why.

Throughout the night, nobody knew what would happen next. But then, the howl of the massed cicada horde... just stopped. Yet nobody dared investigate.
As the sun came up over the horizon, the level of carnage became apparant for the first time.
Devastation unparalleled.

No cicadas were visible... but everybody knew they'd be back.

Update: to be honest, there have been no cicadas visible or audible today. I just didn't want to disappoint everybody.
