I'm not much for uber-kawaii chibi fluff. Never have been, and can't imagine that I ever will be. Hello Kitty makes me go "goodbye lunch."

So why is it that THIS VIDEO makes me smile like a complete goofball?

Is it the obvious Thriller referencing in the dance moves? Is it the fact that the catgirls come from pods (I always thought so)? Is it the ridiculously happy expression on the faces of the possessed?

I dunno. What I DO know is that Funky Cat Maybe is going right into my files under "guilty pleasure."

(there's a 176mb torrent available for download here as well. I can't stress how much better than the GoogleVideo it looks... and yes, I downloaded it using dialup!)

1 I HAVE to know more! I liked that a lot, so I forwarded it onto my friend Bobi, whom I used to live with. She is a massive fan of all things in that vein (it is thanks to her I know the wonder that is Totoro).

She needs to know more, is it a TV show, or a film. Oh and can she live there?

2 From what I've figured out, "Funky Cat Maybe" is a game, and this is a promotional thingy for it.

Now, mind you, that's what I figured out by going to the website listed at the end of the clip... which is in japanese.

As far as the last question goes, I'm single, sure she can live here!

3 Heh, sorry mate, I also used to live with her partner, and the two of them are together still. Smashing couple, both with a lot of Japanese knowledge that has been quite influential on me. I never did get them into F1 mind...

Oh we do the Pocky here, I found a shop in London that stocks it, and I always come back with a reasonable size stock from there. There are no bad flavours

8 Holy mackerel! Tohya, I do think you're absolutely right! As I said, I can't read a lick of Japanese, so I was completely guessing.

I've heard of "To Heart", but knew/know nothing about it... though I might just try and change that now, if for no other reason than to see if it helps me understand "Funky Cat Maybe."
