Speaking Of Pythons...

I noticed that Steven was talking about the marraiges of, amongst others, some of the members of Monty Python.

That was just the hook I needed to throw this bit of terrible news to the wall:

Terry Jones has been diagnosed with bowel cancer.

If there's anything good in this, it's that the doctors believe they found it early, and they've a good chance of 'curing' him. They'll know more after the exploratory surgery.

I grew up watching The Pythons on WTTW, out of Chicago. I was horribly saddened when Graham Chapman died, was shocked when I discovered that John Cleese was no longer allowed to 'silly walk', due to his hip replacement, and now this.

For some reason, I suddenly feel remarkably old...

1 Well, they're all in their 60's (except for Chapman, of course). Statistically speaking you'd expect for them to start exhibiting health problems about now.

It's too bad about Cleese, but you wouldn't expect a 67-year-old man to do that kind of stuff even if he hadn't had hip-replacement surgery.

...and don't talk to me about "feeling old". Sob!

You're speaking of logic here. I'M talking emotionally.

The Pythons were as much... more... of my childhood than any other form of entertainment, save maybe Bugs Bunny. Tintin would be a distant third.

I just have problems with seeing these childhood idols getting sick.

3 On the other hand, it means we're in for more great euolgies. Cleeses' paen to Chapman was touching and hilarious.

4 "...and in conclusion, I would just like to state that I am the first person to say 'f*ck' in an Anglican church..."
