Happy Otaku Day!

It was in the year 40 ATA (After Tetsuwan Atomu) that the long-lost religious holiday of Otaku Day was rediscovered.  Celebrations were joyous, if a bit strained (with schisms forming almost immediately, mostly around alternative veneration of one Haruhi Suzumiya).

With this year's Otaku Day rapidly approaching, I would be remiss if I didn't return to those heady days of last year.

Who can forget our reactions upon our first viewing of the image of Usagi The Brave in her holy rainment of sailor seifuku?  Or her three prophets, Chiyo-Pengu, Pikachu, and Sakura, (kawaii be their visages)?  Or the impressive power inherent in her attendants, EVA-0 and -2?  Surely, the glory of Otaku Day is clear!

One cannot celebrate Otaku Day without the required sacraments of Pocky and Ramune, of course.  Certainly any Pocky is acceptable, though the Decorer styles are most appropriate for this majestic holiday!

All around the world, otaku everywhere leave an offering of Pocky and Ramune for the deliverer of gifts, and stay up late, hoping for a glimpse of Santa...

May your Otaku Day be a special one!
